Do you like to start your day with a smoothie?
I certainly do. As soon as the grass peeks it’s a way through the snow, you can hear my magic bullet zinging away in the wee hours of the morning. I’ll have one for breakfast, an afternoon snack, or even dessert.
That might mean around 40 smoothies a month. Can you imagine how boring it would be if I didn’t switch it up every now and then?
You’ve seen me use coconut flour in my baking, but I’ve got a new twist for you this time. Try adding coconut flour to your smoothies. First, whisk the coconut flour with water. The coconut flour will absorb the water and any grainy texture will disappear in your smoothie.
Just one tablespoon of coconut flour is enough to add 2.5 g of fiber and a little dose of iron. Sprinkle in some chia seeds for a little more fiber and Omega-3 fatty acids.
Why would you want Omega-3s?
The coconut flavor is very mild, unlike the strong taste of coconut milk and coconut butter. Just a lovely little, “Oh, what’s that?” as you lick your lips.
As with most of my recipes, this smoothie is lightly sweetened. It will start your day off right. If you like your smoothies on the sweeter side, add a touch of honey.
I hope you enjoy smoothies as often as me. I may have underestimated 40 smoothies a month.

Blushing Coconut Flour Smoothie
Prep: 5 min
- 1 TB coconut flour
- ¼ cup of water
- 4 strawberries (fresh or frozen)
- ½ large banana (frozen)
- 1 tsp chia seeds
- 1 cup almond milk
- In a small bowl, whisk the coconut flour and water. Scoop into the blender. Add all other ingredients. Blend and serve.
Tip: Use frozen fruit for the perfect consistency in your smoothies. Any dairy or non-dairy milk can be substituted for the almond milk.
